Fancy Women Bike Ride

  • Courthouse Lawn (NW corner) in Downtown Denton Denton, TX, 76201 United States (map)

This event is not organized or hosted by Bike Denton.

Join Denton women for a short, colorful ride to celebrate the freedom and fun of riding a bicycle. Dress code: Fancy!

Fancy Women Bike Ride is an international women-focused, trans-inclusive, cycling event held annually on the Sunday closest to World Car Free Day. It is both a call for better cycling infrastructure and an inspiration to ride. The more women who cycle, the more women will be encouraged to cycle.

The ride will last about 30 minutes at a kid-friendly pace along a 2-mile, mostly flat route from the courthouse lawn in Downtown Denton to Pioneer Circle at TWU and then back downtown to Miss Angeline's to hang out afterwards!

This event is not hosted by any organization or business. It's an event by women for women.

Guidelines

  • Dress code: Fancy, fierce, fabulous, colorful (whatever makes you feel beautiful, strong and great!)

  • Decorate your bicycle, pose for the cameras and take selfies, greet and smile at people during the ride.

  • Be inclusive to all, and support those new to cycling (offer help!)

  • Bring your friends, mothers, aunts and sisters, and be prepared for a magical afternoon.

  • Children welcome provided that they are able to ride a bicycle or are safely attached to an adult's bicycle or riding in a cargo bike.

  • Trans-inclusive.

  • Men may join, but please ride at the back. A great way to support us is to be our photographers, and to amplify the event on social media, using #FWBRdenton or #FancyWomenBikeRide.

  • The #FancyWomenBikeRide is about inclusive spaces, about having space to be safe in our city. And #cyclechic!
