August 18, 2021

The Denton City Council decided during its August 17th work session to schedule a future discussion around the Bicycle Friendly Community Action Plan submitted by Council member Brian Beck (District 2). The discussion date will be announced at a later date.

Council members Maguire (District 4), Armintor (Place 5), Meltzer (Place 6), and Davis (District 3) all spoke in support of the action plan or in support of discussing it further. Council member Byrd (District 1) and Mayor Hudspeth did not make any comments on the proposal. The support of four council members is required to move proposals forward for further discussion, and that requirement was met.

If you didn’t get a chance to email your council member in support of this initiative, you can still Find Your Council Member and send them a brief email to let them know that you support Denton becoming a Bicycle Friendly Community and to briefly explain why you support this and how it would affect you personally.
