Despite being right next to a trail, the North Lakes Dog Park originally included parking only for motor vehicles. This made it more challenging for people who wanted to visit the dog park by bicycle, because there wasn’t anywhere to securely lock a bicycle.

Small wave racks have been installed on the north side of the dog park, along US 77 / N Elm and on the south side of the dog park, between the parking lot and dog areas.

Secure bicycle parking is a key component to enabling people to use a bicycle for more of their daily trips. Kudos to Denton Parks & Recreation for adding this option!

If you have a way to securely and safely transport your pooch by bicycle, and your pooch seems comfortable with it, try it sometime!
